It’s good to see new vegans coming forward. In Brazil, where the “churrasco” is part of the culture, life is getting easier for Brazilian vegans. New vegan restaurants in Rio de Janeiro, new vegan bars in São Paulo, new vegan bloggers sharing recipes and taking on classic, cultural recipes and giving them the vegan turn! Even the vegan shoe industry is flourishing in Brazil.
The web culture of vegans in Brazil is also growing. Until recently, it was mostly headed by internet marketers looking to sell whatever they could, mostly imported goods.
But, it’s good to see more and more people taking advantage of local produce. Heck, Brazil is a paradise for vegans. The abundance of exotic fruits, vegetable and nuts. The kind of stuff Europeans and Americans, for example, pay a fine sum for in their local supermarkets. The horrid effect of so much import by land, sea and air is most certainly one of the horrible issues we face.
Brazil’s young and still small community is looking more and more vibrant. And they deserve all our support.
