My work with The Interview Series continues. Hearing from fellow business owners is an eye-opener to me. These are trying days for us all, especially those of us in a minority niche, as is the case of the vegan community. We are indeed still a minority, let’s face it. But reaching out to others, like Adam, is what veganism needs to reach out to a wider audience.
This wider audience is predominantly vegetarian. Not vegan. But gently nudging people to consider a vegan recipe here or there, as Adam does, is how veganism will grow.
Adam Warren represents Food & Fitness Always, a business primarily creating new and exciting, healthy recipes that are predominantly Vegan or Vegetarian, and sharing them with his readership and followers. Adam also writes articles that relate to health, fitness and lifestyle and often allows others to do the same on his platform.
Here’s more on Adam’s business.
How old is your business?
5 Years Old
Where are you located?
Who is your average customer?
People that have a love for healthy, vibrant food that want to improve their lifestyle in some capacity. I would say my main age group demographic would be 24+ and gender-wise would be about equal.
How has this pandemic affected, if at all, your business?
I don’t think I’ve been as badly affected as others. With more time on everyone’s hands it’s allowed many to re-think their own lifestyles and a chance to re-evaluate goals leading more people to look for healthier recipes and content.
Tell us a little about the local market.
I think being vegan is very much an emerging and exciting marketplace with more and more people trying it out for the first time. The fact that there’s new products coming to the market all the time to cope with increased demand, it’s never been a better time to enter that market.

How about local media?
I still think there’s some negativity around being vegan here in the UK. Not so much across the mainstream media but more locally across family and friends. For example in attempting to cater for vegans at a dinner party, or when you go out to dinner and there’s a large group. This is changing and getting easier though as more and more people are adopting it as a health choice.
How do you market your business? What tools do you use to reach out to your audience?
My business is based around helping those that want to lead a healthier lifestyle. Many of which are trying to be vegan for the first time and jumping aboard the trend. I see this as a positive element though, myself included. I push my recipes through social media channels and have recently launched on IGTV to show my recipes being made, which I’m really enjoying!
Is it easy, in the UK, to access quality vegan produce?
It’s not where it should be but it’s definitely moving in the right direction! More suppliers are launching new products, many of which I get to try out before they hit the market. It’s making being vegan much easier and I think with so many excellent alternatives, it’s only a matter of time before it becomes mainstream. I also appreciate fast food restaurants launching meat-free dishes, albeit this isn’t necessarily a healthier choice, but it does make life easier when dining out with friends and family.
How about your personal journey with veganism? What made you want to go vegan?
It started for me after watching The Game Changers in December. It made complete sense to me after that from a health perspective. I wanted to personally lift more, run longer and feel better. As well as the fact that I love animals. I just didn’t think it was possible for me to actually become vegan before now. Then Veganuary hit at the turn of the year and it allowed me to continue with all the extra support I was getting around me. I’m not 100% there yet, but I know I’ll get there and encourage others to do the same.

And what lead you to open a business around this niche?
My business/blog has been operating for over 5 years now and although it didn’t start out as a Vegan blog, more and more recipes are within that area now as my own lifestyle has changed. There hasn’t been much in the way of difficulty for me, aside from the odd comment here and there from people that don’t understand. The vegan community is very supportive and I love that.
What are you up to now?
I plan to create more and more Vegan and Vegetarian recipes that are exciting, vibrant, healthy and very tasty. All of them are featured first through my Instagram account – My IGTV makes it easy to follow along also so please check it out! 🙂
